The Kobong Pumped Storage Scheme (Client: Lesotho Highlands Water Commission – Lesotho)
MDT Environmental in association with Sechaba Consultants (Lesotho), successfully completed a project for the Lesotho Highlands Water Commission. When a 1200MW pumped storage scheme was proposed for the Katse Dam Reservoir in northern Lesotho, ILISO Consulting undertook an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to identify and assess key environmental impacts, as well as incorporate public feedback into the project proposal with key recommendations. Chobe/Zambezi Water Transfer (Client: Ministry of Water Affairs – Botswana)
MDT Environmental in partnership with Water Resource Consultants (Botswana) has been an integral part of the Chobe/Zambezi Water Transfer Scheme since 2009, successfully completing an environmental impact assessment, as well as pre-feasibility and feasibility studies on the R12 billion project. The Water Transfer Scheme will be used to meet agricultural, industrial and urban demands for water in Pandamatenga and Francistown, as well as the Selebi-Phikwe Mines in Botswana.
Eskom Minimum Emission Standards (Client: Eskom Holdings – South Africa)
MDT Environmental were appointed as the lead consultant, with Umoya-Nilu and SES Solutions as sub-consultants, to support the compilation of an application for an extension of the Minimum Emission Standards compliance time-frames for Eskom Power Stations. This was applied for in terms of relevant sections of the Air Quality Act. The project included the Atmospheric Impact Reports, a Public Participation Process, a Water Resources Assessment and Cost Assessment.
Gauteng Integrated Transportation Master Plan (Client: Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport – South Africa)
MDT Environmental were appointed to the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport’s (GDRT) 2037 Consortium in 2012. It developed the environmental framework as part of an Integrated Transportation Master Plan, which provides a planning framework to assist government in delivering upgraded transport systems to Gauteng until 2037.
